Accra High Court Finally Sentenced Abesim Murder Case of Richard Appiah into Life Imprisonment after 5 years trial. The Accra High Court  has sentenced a former footballer and accused in the Abesim murder trial, Richard Appiah, to life imprisonment. A seven-member jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict after the trial of the former footballer, who was found to have killed two children at Abesim in the Bono Region and stored the remains of one of them in a refrigerator. The trial which started in 2021 resulted in the prosecution relying on the testimonies of five witnesses.  The convict, pleaded guilty with a defense of insanity. During the trial, his lawyers told the court that at the time of the killing, he was suffering from schizophrenia. Prosecution however rebutted the reasoning, citing that an insane person would not hide the bodies and attempt to destroy evidence. SUSPECTED DRUG KINGPIN ARRESTED IN BEREKUM FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC DRUGS. 1. The Berekum Divisional Police Command has arrested one kingpin, 39-year-old David Frimpong for Possession of Narcotic Drugs without Lawful Authority at Nyamebekyere , a suburb, in Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region.  2. BONO REGIONAL POLICE RECOVER FIVE ASSAULT RIFLES AFTER SHOOTOUT; ONE SUSPECT KILLED. The Bono Regional Police Command has today 17th February  2026 has achieved a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against armed robbery and organized criminal activities in the Region. The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested and put before the court several members of criminal gangs who have been involved in a series of robbery and other crime related activities within the region and its surrounding communities. 25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. A 40-Year-Old Man Shots Himself and His 9-Year-Old Daughter to Death. A 40-year-old man Gedeon Kwasi Yeboah has shot himself and his 9-year-old daughter Oliver Yeboah to death a Kato in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region. Trucks Loaded With Cooking Oil Impounded by the National Security in Kumasi. The National Security operatives has impounded three (3) articulator trucks fully  loaded with thousands of gallons of cooking oils in Kumasi in the Ashanti region. Upon a tip off that the National security was able to trace the three vehicles and impounded them. The trucks involved are with the registration numbers of Nigerian, T-8082L, Ghana's, AS 3885-09, Burkina BN 8878. The Head of Special Monitoring and Intelligence Team at the National Security, Hajia Rashida Mahama, stated that her team monitored the trucks from Accra to Kumasi for the past 4-days upon a tip off. Black Market Money Exchanger Shot Dead at Nkrankwanta. A 33 year-old young man Jafet who operate as a black market money exchanger has been shot dead at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of the Bono region. Eye witnesses explained that, Jafet who has been operating this business for many years was shot dead by two masked armed men with a motor bike at the Nkrankwanta lorry station bolting away with his money and at the time he was shot, he struggled with the armed men inside his shop to prevent them from stealing his money.  According to the report, he has usually been operating this business especially during the cashew seasons where he do exchange money for cashew buyers from Ivory Coast and Ghana who wants to exchange CFA into Ghana cedis and the vice versa. A vendor at her Mobile Money Shop shot dead at Krofrom. A young lady by name, Patricia in her early thirties identify was shot by armed robbers at Krofrom a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The information gathered has it that, she was transacting business at her mobile money vendors shop where the tragic incident occured. The incident happened on Thursday February 13, 2025 at 3:00 pm afternoon at the vendors shop located at Krofrom.
