BONO REGIONAL POLICE RECOVER FIVE ASSAULT RIFLES AFTER SHOOTOUT; ONE SUSPECT KILLED.



The Bono Regional Police Command has today 17th February  2026 has achieved a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against armed robbery and organized criminal activities in the Region.

The Regional Police Command has recovered five assorted firearms following an intelligence-led operation against notorious robbery gangs operating within the Region.


On 11th February 2026, Police intelligence indicated that a gang had planned an attack on traders travelling along Dormaa-Gonokrom highway. 


Surveillance teams were immediately deployed to foil the intended robbery. 

In the early hours of 12th February 2026, officers advancing near a parked motorbike came under gunfire from nearby bushes. 


Police returned fire, and a search at daybreak found one male suspect dead, with an AK47 rifle beside him. 

A further search led to the recovery of a sack containing additional weapons and ammunition, including two Baikal single barrel guns, a pump action gun, one Beretta pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition plus 34 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK47 rifle loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition plus 10 rounds of ammunition, 39 rounds of BB cartridge, one dagger, a mobile phone, a Honda motorbike, a black mask, and a set of talisman. 


The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.


The Bono Regional Police Command wishes to assure the public that efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining gang members and bring them to face justice.


The command also calls on the general public to assist the Police with credible information that will lead to the arrest of persons involved in criminal activities, as we continue to work tirelessly to enhance safety and security across the Region.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. His death attracted a crowd of the Berekum people to the scene on the street of Nyamebekyere as everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the deceased over the incident of frequent robbery attacks and stealing in the Municipality.
