E-Levy To Be Reviewed from 1.5% to 1% Ken Ofori-Atta 2023 Budget Statement Presentation in Parliament. The Mnister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, today Thursday 24th November, 2022 among other economic strategies to redeem the country from its current economic situation has today presented the 2023 budget statement in Parliament. Some of the key highlights include increase of 2.5% VAT while E-Levy rate will be reviewed from 1.5% to 1% with other thresholds. To reduce heavy dependence on import products which gives tremendous pressure on the Ghana cedi, import products will be heavily taxed to enable the patronage of the locally made products. Adding that, under the government's initiative of one-District-one-factory, a number of 296 projects have been completed and are on the various stages of implementation whiles 143 are under construction and 27 are in the pipeline. GH¢1bn fraud: Banks line up staff for prosecution. The Bank of Ghana has revealed that some of the persons involved in the GH¢1bn fraud that hit the banking sector in 2020 are being prosecuted. A source at the central bank told the Daily Graphic that while some of the banks were still investigating the persons involved, others were going through due process in the courts.   “This is a matter that banks are dealing with on the quiet and we are closely monitoring them”, the source said. “This is the first time we are seeing such a high number of bank staff involved in fraud of this magnitude”, the source added. The type of fraud, which saw the highest involvement of staff of the banking sector, was suppression of cash – where a staff takes cash from customers but does not record the full amount in the books and tries to balance it off with deposits made by other customers. The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) Secretariat has sent a passionate message to personnel in the programme as they officially climax their three-year contract between the two parties. Trainees received the letter uploaded on their online portal yesterday, November 4, 2021 Part of the letter sighted by Bricy Boateng, the second paragraph reads,“ In line with your exit arrangement you will now be given the opportunity to join the exit preparation Talent Pool pending future job and training opportunities.
