Trucks Loaded With Cooking Oil Impounded by the National Security in Kumasi.

The National Security operatives has impounded three (3) articulator trucks fully  loaded with thousands of gallons of cooking oils in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.


Upon a tip off that the National security was able to trace the three vehicles and impounded them.


The trucks involved are with the registration numbers of Nigerian, T-8082L, Ghana's, AS 3885-09, Burkina BN 8878.


The Head of Special Monitoring and Intelligence Team at the National Security, Hajia Rashida Mahama, stated that her team monitored the trucks from Accra to Kumasi for the past 4-days upon a tip off.

She said, for the total number 6,688 gallons of the oil, the agent only paid duties for only 4,320, thereby smuggling the rest totalling 2,368 quantities.


He said, the agent initially said the goods were been transporting to the Ivory Coast but the trucks diverted their way to Kumasi for delivery instead of the original route.


“I will make sure the agent pays the difference in duties of the 2, 368 gallons which is the tune of GH¢1,000,368.800”.


She warned  agents or importers to do due diligence at the customs office before transporting their goods to their various destinations to avoid getting arrested by the government.
