UENR poised to make Bono Region an IT Hub - Dr. Peter Appiahene. The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) is poised to make the Bono Region an Information Technology (IT) hub, according to Dr. Peter Appiahene, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences. Berekum East and West School Children Commemorates 2025 AU Anti-Corruption Day. 2025 Anti-corruption Campaign at Freeman Methodist School. The pupils of both Berekum East and West Districts respectively of the Bono region on 11th July, 2025 commemorated the 2025 Africa Union Anti-Corruption Day. The sanitization of anti-corruption was observed by over 450 school children from some selected schools from the two districts including Freeman Methodist School, All for Christ JHS, Genesis Preparatory and JHS and Christ the King Academy. The commemoration which was organised by Citizens Watch Ghana in collaboration with Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) with the support from Hewlett Foundation was very well embraced by the school children for receiving such a loudable education on anti-corruption. Sunyani Manhene visits SUSEC Exam centre to inspire BECE candidates, pledges scholarships for best-performing students. Sunyani Manhene, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, has visited the Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) examination centres A and B in the Bono Region to inspire and advise BECE candidates.  As the candidates entered their second day of exams, Omanhene's message emphasized the importance of courage and perseverance. During a parade on Thursday morning, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II encouraged the students to face the exam with confidence, noting that many teachers and chiefs, including himself, had successfully navigated similar challenges.  He stressed that hard work and determination were key to success and urged the candidates to put their knowledge into practice on paper. Bono Region: GES cautions BECE candidates against Malpractices. The Bono Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Luke Mensah has cautioned both invigilators and candidates to avoid any actions that could compromise the integrity of this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Bono region, reminding candidates to adhere to examination rules and regulations. Mr. Luke Mensah emphasized that such actions could lead to severe consequences, including cancellation of papers and revocation of teaching licenses. Addressing concerns about the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions being labelled a hotspot for examination malpractices in the country, Mr. Mensah expressed optimism that this year's exam will be fair and free from such negative tags.  He assured that measures are in place to prevent malpractices and urged candidates and invigilators from performing to the best of their abilities. World Menstrial Hygiene Day: Berekum West Girl Child Education Unit and Think-Aid Foundation Celebrates the Occassion. The Berekum West District Education Directorate as part of their effort in promoting girl-child education has on 28th May, 2025 celebrated the World Menstrial Hygiene Day at Jinijini-the District capital of Berekum West District in the Bono region of Ghana. The event was in collaboration with ThinkAid Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, whose vision is to support the less privileged people in our communities. Thinkaid Foundation donated packs of sanitary pads to the Girls child unit coordinators during the event to be shared freely to the girls over 200 in attendance. The cost of buying a sanitary pad has become a major challenge among the school going girls in the district where a number of them were drawn from Senior High Schools to Basic school to celebrate the occasion where they were taught to equip themselves to have a prepared mind on their menstrial hy...
Nkoranza North: Busunya SDA JHS Wins NCCE Independence Day Quiz Competition. The National Commission for Civic Education in Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region has organised quiz and Independence Day Constitution Game Competition at Busunya SDA Central Church on the 10th March for basic schools. The event, organized by the National Commission for Civic Education Nkoranza North and sponsored by the head office in Accra, brought together four schools in the Busunya town district to promote civic awareness and education among pupils.  The participating schools were Busunya SDA JHS, Busunya Methodist JHS, Busunya Anglican JHS, and Busunya Roman Catholic School Junior High School. Blending Queenship and Reading; Queen Mother of Kato Initiates Drop the Street Campaign. In an attempt to withdraw children from the street against streetism, the founder of Asuamah Kyere Community Mobile Library (AKCOMLIB-GH), Nana Afiah Siraa Ababio III who doubles as the queen mother of Berekum-Kato in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region, has undertaken a project to help the children off the streets. Nana Afiah Siraa stressed that, street children have become a worrying situation in the country whiles some children have found their abode in ghettos all because they lack the proper educational upbringing hence the plan to help them from the street through reading. UG'S PROCUREMENT PROCESS UNDER SCRUTINY: STAKEHOLDERS RAISE CONCERNS OVER MEDALS AND SCROLL SAGA. Confusion, debate, and pains continue to be among the latest graduands from the University of Ghana over failure of the authorities to provide the graduates with medals and scrolls.  Graduation ceremonies commenced on February 11, with over 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students receiving their degrees in 17 separate sessions over the last two weeks.  However, the graduates received their degrees without their medals and scroll holders (which they have paid for) due to last-minute procurement setbacks. According to a highly placed source within the university’s procurement office, the decision to provide medals and scrolls for graduation ceremonies was made as far back as July 2024. Berekum Senior High School '98 Year Group Donates Computers to Alma Mater. Education, they say is a bedrock of every society therefore the 1998 year group of the Berekum Senior High School in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono region has donated a set of computers and it's accessories to their alma mater. At the gathering to present the items, the old students numbering over 30 presented 10 computers, ups, printer and among others to the school to help reduce the technology deficit facing the school. Speaking on behalf of the old students, Madam Benedicta Odame Appiah emphasised the need for the 98 year group to present their widow's mite to support their former school, because in this 21st century, information telecommunication technology has become very essential.
