COBAANA to Build Dialysis Center in Sunyani as MP's Of Berekum East and West Support Initiative.

The Council of Bono and Ahafo Association of North America (COBAANA), an umbrella organisation of diaspora Ghanaians from the former Brong-Ahafo region residing in the US and Canada has move towards their vision since 2023  to spearhead the development of a US $2.500,000 Dialysis Center at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.


The association on Saturday 30th August 2025 had their Annual Convention under the theme: "The Health of our people is our concern" in the attempt to enhance the healthcare access of the people of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions gathered to raised funds of which some Members of Parliament from the regions were invited to grace the occasion.


The three regions though do not have any center for dialysis for people suffering from kidney and to ensure equitable access to essential dialysis services, the association with his members are working to get one center for the regions respectively to reduce the physical, emotional and financial hardship patients currently enduring from traveling to other places such as Kumasi or Accra for treatment.

The Members of Parliament from both Berekum East and West were among some of the guest at the occasion to support the fund raising.


The MP of Berekum East, Hon. Elder Simon Amparbeng Kyeremeh emphasised on the need to have a dialysis services centre at the hospital to bridge the gap of the pain the patients from the regions go through in assessing treatment since he said, dialysis is a lifesaving treatment for end-stage kidney disease and establishing a local centre will improve timely access holistically.


He commended for the impact they are making towards the lives of the people of Bono and Ahafo for such a loudable contribution to the development of the health care deliver in the area.






On his part, the MP of Berekum West Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Kyere-Duah aka Stugard was elated to be part of the event. He also said, the center when established will relieve the patients of the financial crisis they go through especially cost in travelling for treatment to eliminate the lengthy and costly of travel to tertiary facilities.


Adding that, the project when completed will serve not only the people of Bono and Ahafo regions respectively but also other part of the country from the Western north and neighbouring countries hence urged .


Among the MP's there other host of dignitaries that were present including traditional leaders to grace the occasion.
