Berekum Katohemaa reinntroduces Traditional Akan Games for Children at Kato Community.
The Queen Mother of Berekum-Kato who also doubles as the Wrempehemaa of Berekum Traditional Area, in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region, Nana Afia Siraah Ababio III has reintroduced a traditional games and plays at her community to rebuild the lost akan culture of our traditions to inculcate in the young children between the ages of 6 and 17 years in Berekum and its environs.

Speaking to Nanahemaa at her palace, she said, she early founded Asuama Kyere Community Mobile Library Ghana (AKCOMLIB-GH) to inculcate the habit of reading among the school going children since 2011 within the Berekum East Municipality as well as the entire Brong Ahafo region respectively has yielded a lot of positive result among the children to motivate them to read a book a week.
Nana explained that, due to our lost culture among the youth, she has introduced another strategy to rebuild the lost Akan culture and traditions which will boost in the children to learn the lost traditional games and plays that are gradually fading away from among the children currently.
She said, among some of the traditional games and plays that she is building the children with includes Pampanaa, Oware, Antoakire, Ampe, Chaskele, Ludo, Pilolo, Nkro, Dame and among other games and plays.
She added that, the traditional training she is inculcating in the children to equip them to learn our lost culture and traditions demands a lot of support therefore called on other organizations and individuals to come to her aid to help build in our children to know the traditional games and plays as part of educational development.
