Berekum East MP Launches Foundation To Reach Out to Drug Addicts in Berekum.

The Member of Parliament for Berekum East Constituency of the Bono region, Hon. Elder Simon Amparbeng Kyeremeh has rolled out a campaign to combat against drug addiction within the Berekum and its environs.


At a celebration to launch HESAK Foundation, the occasion was specially coincided with the birthday of the MP to ensure the youth who are into hard drugs hiding in ghettos will be integrated and brought back to the society through his foundation by way of skills training and job creation offers.


Hon. Elder Simon Amparbeng Kyeremeh speaking at the event explained that, a lot of youth in Berekum are into drug abuse which he said, as a Member of Parliament, cannot sit down for the youh to be destroyed who are the future of the next generation.






He added that, he will collaborate and partner with the health personnel in the various facilities to support the foundation to work on the youth who are into hard drugs to take them out of the ghettos.


He finally called for the support of everyone with a financial or material support to aid the foundation to reach out to the needy in society especially those addicted in drugs.


The special guest of honor for the event who happens to be the Paramount Chief of Nsoatre Traditional Council, Obrempong Adjei Korang Kusi commended the MP for such a loudable initiative to eradicate drug abuse in Berekum and it's environs.


He said, most youth in Berekum are now into drug addiction which if care is not taken, the town will lose most of its youthful age in the city.









He urged the youth to desist from such act since it will erode their future opportunities. He called on the people of Berekum to support the foundation to implement its core mandate to rescue those into drugs.


NDC of Berekum East Constituency, Hon. Andrews Henneh aka Agya Henneh share his sad moments to see the youth dragging into drugs but said, it is not too late now and there is a way out therefore everyone should get involved in the fight against drug abuse in the Municipality.


Chairman Kwaku Kamkam of NPP also advised the parents not to shun their responsibilities as parents but ensure their children are well trained to eradicate drug abuse among their children.


He said, the program will be supported to sustain it to help reduce drug abuse which has become a canker within Berekum and it's environs.


On his part, the Education Director of Berekum East Municipal Directorate, Mr David Owusu Ansah added that, the directorate will do all that they can support HESAK Foundation so that drug addiction will be reduced among the youth in Berekum.


At the launching, a 12 member committee were formed to steer the affairs of the HESAK Foundation.


The event was attracted to both the traditional authorities, the clergy, party faithfuls, friends and sympathizers including the media celebrated with the MP to launch the HESAK Foundation.

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council. NSOATRE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL CONDEMNS THE VIOLENCE ACT THAT RESULTED THE DEATH OF KOTOKO SUPPORTER. The Nsoatre Traditional Council has condemns the uncouth behavour of some of the football fans that led to the untimely death of an ardent supporter of Kumasi Asante Football Club.  According to Nsuatre Traditional Council this  unfortunate behaviour happened on the stool land of Nsoatre which the council sees as unfortunate due to the cordial relationship between Nsoatreman and Asanteman which is dated back to 1740.
