FIRE DESTROYS BEREKUM MESTECH TEACHERS BUNGALOW


FIRE DISASTER HITS BEREKUM MESTECH.

Fire has Raze Down teachers bungalows of one Semi-detached bedrooms of Berekum Methodist Senior High and Technical School (MESTECH) in the Berekum Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region on Wednesday 30th January, 2019 at about 2:30pm.
The students of the school showed a great effort to put out the fire and it helped to save the building from  total destruction before the Ghana Fire Service Personnel came around to handle the situation.
According to the reports gathered, it was the Assistant Girls Prefect of the school who first saw the fire and raised alarm for people and property to be rescued.
So far 6 teachers have been affected during the fire outbreak.
These include,  the school Burser and it's assistant, the school chaplain and some of the other staffs. They have lost all their acquired properties in their various rooms. Some tried to  gather some of their things but to no avail. Even certificates and money got burnt by the fire. The school has lost a lot. Where the affected teachers and their families will lodge is even a matter of concern to the authorities of the school.
The MCE of Berekum Municipal, Hon. Kofi Adjei together with the Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Grace Ivy Ameyaw, the NADMO Director, Mr. Kofi Agyekum and other technocrats visited the scene to verify the situation. They promised to provide a place for the affected teachers to lodge to reduce their pain of the disaster as they look for the cause of the fire.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Enoch Mensah Febri added that for now they do not known the cause of the fire but said it is a heavy blow to the school as new teachers bungalow has to be put up to accommodate the affected teachers.
He therefore made a passionate appeal to the government and individuals to come to the aid of the school. He also commended the effort of the students in the school with their enthusiasm in doing their best to bring the fire under control.
