Newmont Ghana Ltd together with Bechem Traditional Council Cut Sod for Construction of boreholes in Bechem . The Municipal chief Executive ( MCE ) for Tano South , Chiefs of the Bechem Traditional Council and officials from Newmont Ghana Ltd in the Ahafo region today Tuesday, 9th December, 2025 cut sod for the construction of two (2) state-of-the-art mechanised boreholes in Bechem. The project which one will be constructed at Bechem Presbyterian SHS ( PRESEC ) and another one at Adekyem area on the Breme road to enhance water system in the Municipality. The project is one of the huge step toward improving access to clean and reliable water for the residents in Bechem.  For years, the residents of the beneficiary communities have been facing challenges with water supply, and this intervention will bring tremendous relief to their households, students and businesses. Ahmadiyya Junior High School in the Lambussie District celebrated the International Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday, 9th December, 2025. The theme for the event was “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.” The programme was organised to teach students about corruption and encourage them to live honestly. The event started with an opening prayer by the School Senior Prefect. The Headmaster then gave the Welcome Address, reminding students of the importance of discipline, honesty, and good behaviour. Bono Regional Police Command arrest suspected Jinijini-Drobo gang armed robbers. The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested and put before the court several members of criminal gangs who have been involved in a series of robbery and other crime related activities within the region and its surrounding communities. Addressing the media today at the regional headquarters, DCOP Joshua Coppson , the Bono Regional Police Commander, reveals the suspects as Johnson Amponsah Kwame Diawuo , an ex-convict aged 47, Shadrach Owusu , also known as Shark , aged 25, Kwafo Samuel, ex-convict aged 30, Latif Mustapha, also known as Star Boy, aged 28, Mosby Owusu aged 20, Kofi Iddrisa aged 45, and Baba Kumi Foster aged 35.  He told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani -based Ark fm that on 18th November 2025, some of the gang members attempted to rob some persons on the Berekum-Drobo Road, which was foiled by police intervention. Berekum LANet Advised School Children To Support The Fight Against Corruption. As part of the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day, (IACD), Citizens Watch Ghana in partnership with Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) with support from the, European Union, GIZ, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation has embarked on an anti-corruption campaign to sensitize students against corruption. The program which was held in two different basic schools in Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region on Monday 8th December, 2025 included the Preby (A) JHS and Mpatasie M/A JHS respectively representing 250 students. The Executive Director for Citizens Watch Ghana and Focal Person for the LANet, Mr. Simon Asore in his welcome address urged the students to resist, reject and report all corrupt practices because it denies citizens of their needed development, making some people richer in society winding the poverty gap and denying the right people employment.
