The Municipal chief Executive ( MCE ) for Tano South, Chiefs of the Bechem Traditional Council and officials from Newmont Ghana Ltd in the Ahafo region today Tuesday, 9th December, 2025 cut sod for the construction of two (2) state-of-the-art mechanised boreholes in Bechem.
The project which one will be constructed at Bechem Presbyterian SHS (PRESEC) and another one at Adekyem area on the Breme road to enhance water system in the Municipality.
The project is one of the huge step toward improving access to clean and reliable water for the residents in Bechem.
For years, the residents of the beneficiary communities have been facing challenges with water supply, and this intervention will bring tremendous relief to their households, students and businesses.
Hon, Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, MCE of Bechem expressed his deepest gratitude to the management of Newmont Ghana Ltd. and the Bechem Traditional Council for their continued partnership and commitment to the well-being of our Municipality.
Their support reflects the true spirit of responsible corporate participation to ensure the well being of the area.
He added that, measures have been put in place to provide other second circle schools with a potable water for respective institutions in the area in need of water.
Nana Kofi Appiah alias Wadaada who is the contractor for the projects reveals that, he will make sure that, the project will be completed within the four months duration given him to enhance water supply in the Bechem township.
The Queen mother of Bechem Traditional Council, Nana Serwaa Dwamena Adwoa-po II on behalf of the chiefs appreciated Newmont Ghana Ltd for coming to their aid and urged the residents to support the project for the interest of the development in the area.
The residents also assure to make good use of the project after its completion to maintain it for the standard it deserves.
