EXTRAVAGANT WEDDINGS DO NOT GUARANTEE SUCCESSFUL AND LONG-LASTING MARRIAGES.

The growing pressure on couples to organise lavish and expensive wedding ceremonies has sparked debate over whether extravagant weddings guarantee successful and long-lasting marriages.

While some couples consider an elaborate wedding a once-in-a-lifetime experience worth spending heavily on, others argue that the amount of money invested in a wedding does not necessarily determine the success or longevity of a marriage.

Marriage, many believe, requires far more than a beautiful ceremony, expensive outfits, luxurious venues and an impressive reception. It demands commitment, patience, mutual respect, effective communication, financial understanding and the willingness of both partners to work through challenges together.

There are also concerns that some couples spend beyond their financial means to meet societal expectations and impress family members, friends and guests. Such spending can place unnecessary financial pressure on couples as they begin their married lives.

Financial experts and relationship advocates often emphasise the importance of financial planning, mutual understanding and responsible spending as essential foundations for a stable marriage.

However, others maintain that there is nothing wrong with celebrating a wedding in grand style, provided the couple can afford it without compromising their financial security or future plans.

Ultimately, the debate raises an important question: Has society placed too much emphasis on the wedding ceremony at the expense of the marriage itself?

While a wedding marks the beginning of a couple's marital journey, the success of that journey depends largely on the commitment, understanding and effort both partners invest in building a lasting relationship.
