BEREKUM WEST DISTRICT COMMISSIONS ADOM AND PRUSO CHP COMPOUNDS.
Residents of Adom and Pruso, two of the 20 communities in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, have gained access to community-based healthcare facilities following the commissioning of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in the two communities.
The facilities, whose construction began this year, are expected to improve access to healthcare and help save lives, particularly among residents who have faced challenges accessing essential health services.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere-Duah, said health remained a priority for the government, citing President John Dramani Mahama's introduction of the Free Primary Healthcare initiative.
He explained that the construction of the CHPS compounds was aimed at improving access to quality healthcare delivery in the constituency.
Hon. Kyere-Duah added that the facilities would begin operations immediately after the commissioning, as the necessary medical equipment had been provided to support their operations.
The District Chief Executive for Berekum West, Hon. Collins Asoma, also assured residents that no community in the district would be left behind in efforts to improve access to quality healthcare.
He said other communities without CHPS compounds would also be considered in the coming years to ensure that more residents benefited from accessible healthcare services.
The Chief of Adom, Nana Yeboah Asuamah Kukudebe II, commended the government, the Member of Parliament, and the District Chief Executive for their intervention in providing the communities with the healthcare facilities.
He pledged the community's continued cooperation with the District Assembly to facilitate further development projects, particularly improvements to roads and other essential infrastructure.
The queen mother of Pruso on behalf of the people also expressed her gratitude to the MP, DCE and the government for the support in providing them with a CHP Compound which from now will reduce the frequent death they have been going through in the community.
