The Nkoranzamanhene, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, on Tuesday 29th September, 2026 has officially fulfilled a bold promise made last year, awarding a full scholarship to Miss Nana Fosuaa Osei-Bonsu, a standout student who excelled in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).


The scholarship covers Miss Osei-Bonsu’s entire four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), with a further commitment to fund her Master’s degree.


The announcement, made today at the Nkoranza Traditional Council, marks the realization of a vision Nana Kwame Baffoe IV outlined on December 9, 2025. During that pivotal council meeting, the Overlord pledged to personally fund the university education of any student from his paramountcy who secured 8A1s in WASSCE, specifically targeting critical disciplines such as Medicine, Engineering, and Law.

A Scholar of Exceptional Distinction:

Miss Osei-Bonsu, a native of Akropong in the Nkoranza Traditional Area, attended Wesley Girls' High School. Her academic feat is nothing short of stellar. She obtained A1 grades in all core subjects, as well as A1 in Mathematics (Elective), Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.


Her excellence is not a recent development. During her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), she achieved a perfect score of 10 ones from Adventist Preparatory School (APS) in Techiman, a performance that earned her a Presidential Award from former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.



"Education is Not an Expense";

Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV reiterated his philosophy on education and community development.


“Education is not an expense; it is the most vital infrastructure we can build for our people,” the Omanhene stated. “When we educate a child, especially in these fields of national need, we are not just transforming an individual life. We are planting a seed that will grow to provide healing, innovation, justice, and leadership for our entire community.”


The Nkoranzamanhene emphasized that his support for Miss Osei-Bonsu is a strategic investment in the human resource base of the Nkoranza Traditional Area. He confirmed that he stands by the ideas and promises made last year, urging all indigenous citizens, the Nkoranzaman Development Forum, and development partners to rally behind a concerted push to elevate educational standards.


A Call to Action for the Youth:

Nana Kwame Baffoe IV used the occasion to call upon all girls and students in the area to emulate Miss Osei-Bonsu’s discipline and academic rigor.

“An educated citizenry is the true wealth of Nkoranza,” he added.


Family Expresses Gratitude:

Mr. Collins Osei-Bonsu, the proud father of the beneficiary, was full of praise for the Omanhene. He expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting that it relieves a significant financial burden and validates his daughter's hard work.


He also used the opportunity to charge other parents to support their children with all the necessary resources and encouragement to achieve their dreams.


The scholarship award ceremony was attended by members of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, family members, and community stakeholders, marking a significant step in the area's broader educational offensive.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs.
