Jomoro mp introduces One Million Coders programme.

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo Toffey, has introduced the government’s One Million Coders Programme in the constituency.


This is part of the efforts to equip young people with relevant digital and technology skills for the future.


The initiative is designed to expose beneficiaries to coding, digital literacy and other technology-related skills, with the broader objective of preparing Ghanaian youth to take advantage of employment, entrepreneurship and other opportunities in the rapidly growing digital economy.


The One Million Coders Programme is a flagship national initiative being implemented by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations.

The programme aims to train one million Ghanaians in digital and ICT-related skills over four years.


As of September 2026, about 140,000 people had registered for the One Million Coders Programme, while more than 10,000 participants had completed courses, according to figures announced by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.



The national programme was launched in April 2025, with the government targeting the training of one million Ghanaians in essential digital skills over a four-year period. Initial courses included areas such as cybersecurity, networking, data analytics and data protection.


The introduction of the programme in Jomoro therefore represents an effort to extend Ghana’s digital-skills agenda to young people at the constituency level and ensure that residents in the area can participate in the country’s growing digital economy.


Stakeholders are expected to encourage eligible young people to enrol and take advantage of the training opportunities available under the initiative.

In Jomoro, the introduction of the programme is expected to provide young people with greater access to technology education and help bridge the digital skills gap, particularly among those who may otherwise have limited opportunities to receive structured training in emerging technologies.


The programme offers training in several areas, including software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, digital literacy, networking, cloud computing, digital marketing, data protection and artificial intelligence.


Speaking on the importance of the initiative, the Jomoro District Coordinator, Meya Nzema, emphasised the need for young people in Jomoro to acquire skills that can position them for opportunities beyond traditional employment.


He encouraged prospective beneficiaries to take the training seriously and make effective use of the opportunities presented through the programme.


Mr Nzema said the initiative comes at a time when digital skills are becoming increasingly important to employment, entrepreneurship and participation in the global economy.


He explained that they have visited several villages to train the youth who have the skill to learn about coding, among others, and they are willing to do more.


The coordinator explained that the target of his office is to train about 300 youths by the end of the year 2026.


Mr Nzema urged the youth to desist from internet fraud since the programme is not about cybercrime.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs.
