HON. REGINA NKETIA URGE FOR RESPONSIBLE USE OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA.
Hon. Regina Nketia, a member of the NDC Bono Regional Youth Working Committee and Welfare Director, has called for the responsible use of social media, particularly in Ghana’s political discourse.
She condemned the increasing use of insults, abusive language and personal attacks by some political actors and supporters on social media platforms.
According to Hon. Regina Nketia, some individuals have resorted to using social media to insult the President and other political leaders, a development she described as worrying.
She stressed that insults and personal attacks do not represent Ghanaian culture and values, and urged political actors to promote respectful and constructive engagement.
Hon. Regina Nketia made the remarks in reaction to recent videos and audio recordings circulating on social media, including discussions involving platforms such as Ghana Jollof.
She particularly appealed to the youth to use social media responsibly and focus political discussions on issues, policies and ideas rather than insults and personal attacks.
She further urged young people to be mindful of the impact of their online comments and content, stressing the need to use social media to promote peace, respect and responsible political engagement.
