AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER URGES TRADITIONAL LEADERS TO DEEPEN COLLABORATION FOR DEVELOPMENT.


The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, has called for stronger collaboration between traditional authorities and government to accelerate development and strengthen local governance across the Ahafo Region.


She said traditional authorities have a crucial role to play in mobilising communities, supporting development initiatives and ensuring that the aspirations and concerns of the people are effectively addressed.


Hon. Charity Gardiner made the call when she led the Regional House of Chiefs and Queen Mothers to the Jubilee House for a courtesy call on His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the Vice President.


According to the Minister, chiefs are uniquely positioned to support development within their respective communities because they understand the aspirations and challenges of their people and remain important partners in mobilising communities towards development.


She therefore urged traditional rulers in Ahafo to continue to play a meaningful role in the decentralisation process, particularly in matters concerning the development and wellbeing of their communities.


The Minister also urged traditional leaders to work closely with Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to ensure that public resources allocated to their districts translate into tangible development projects, improved services and better living conditions for the people.


According to Hon. Charity Gardiner, the proposed establishment of a 24-hour market in the districts presents an important opportunity to stimulate economic activity and create expanded markets for farmers, traders and local businesses.


She said the initiative was in line with the vision of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the  Resetting Agenda.


Hon. Charity Gardiner said she was particularly encouraged by the inclusion of several critical road projects within the Big Push programme.


She noted that improved road infrastructure would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade and open up new opportunities across the region.


“These initiatives reflect the commitment of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to the development of Ahafo Region and are in line with the President’s Resetting Agenda,” she said.


The Ahafo Regional Minister further called for sustained collaboration among traditional authorities, the Regional Coordinating Council, MDCEs, Members of Parliament and other stakeholders to address the development needs of the region.


She said a stronger partnership among these key stakeholders would be essential to ensuring that development initiatives effectively respond to the needs of communities across Ahafo.


“Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous and sustainable Ahafo Region where every community has the opportunity to develop and every citizen can benefit from the progress of our region,” Hon. Charity Gardiner said.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council.
