Berekum West District 70 PWD's Receives Items and Cash Donations of their 3 Percent DACF.


The Berekum West District of the Bono region department of the social welfare and the assembly authorities have made a step to ensure the 3 percent common fund for people with disability has been disbursed .


The disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district including individuals with physical, visual, and hearing impairments with the total funds disbursed was GH₵ 271,435.00 allocated from the last quarter of the previous financial year.

Cash allocation for 40 PWDs received GH₵ 3,000.00 each (totaling GH₵ 120,000.00) to support their livelihoods. 


The remaining funds (GH₵ 151,435.00) were used to procure startup items including chest freezers, sewing machines, and fufu pounding machines.

The Chairman of the Berekum West District People With Disability Association, Osei Yaw made an appeal to the assembly and the government to extend a gesture to the people with disability to always consider them in giving them orders to saw some of the government school uniforms which will help them make good use of the saw machines they distribute to the people since is not easy to compete with the abled dress makers.


The DCE of Berekum West District, Hon. Collins Asoma assured that, there is no way the assembly will take the money that belongs to the people with disability hence the plan to disburse them to improve upon their livelihood.


He added that, the items and cash amount released to the people were done without malice to any of the people with disability.


The MP of Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere-Duah aka Stugard on his part shared government intervention to improve the lives of the people with disability by increasing their common fund from 3 percent to 5 percent.



He explained that, the amount of money that the Berekum West District Assembly has disbursed to the people with disability in 2025 is more than what the previous government disbursed in 2024.


He said, the NDC government has a massive plan for the people with disability thus why President Mahama has increased their common fund and also included stress free education program.


Some of the beneficiaries, Florence Twumwaa expressed her appreciation to the government for coming to their and promised to make good use of the chest freezer received.

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council. Berekum Omanhene Nana Kofi Asante Krobea has officially been nominated today at Manhyia Palace by the Omanhemaa of Berekum Nana Akosua Ameyaahene II.
