Anti-Corruption Campaign 2026 Hits Three Basic Schools in the Bono Region.
As part of the 2026 annual commemoration of Africa Anti-Corruption Day, LANet in collaboration with GACC has toured three different districts in the Bono region to educate school children on the need to be enlightened on anti-corruption.
The event which the WILLIAM FLORA HEWLETT Foundation sponsored sought to broaden the knowledge of children about the effect corruption brought to the country and how together we can put a stop to it beginning from childhood.
The 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day was under the theme: "Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa", The Executive Secretary of Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), Mrs Beauty Emefa Narteh expressed that, the theme reminds us that, promoting integrity and combating corruption are shared responsibilities.
Adding that, "building societies founded on honesty, transparency, and accountability requires the collective commitment of government, institutions, communities, and citizens, especially young people"
She entreated the young people of Ghana to be bold in dealing with anti-corruption emphasising a simple message of:
1. Resist Corruption
2. Reject Corruption and
3. Report Corruption which represents the 3R's which should always echo in the voice of the youth, to eradicate corruption from all sectors of life.
The Focal Person of Berekum East and Dormaa West LANet and Executive Director of Citizens Watch Ghana, Simon Asore on his part elaborated much on encouraging the young ones to accept the fact that, corruption is something we must do away with and resisting, rejecting and reporting corruption is the ideal that the constitution of Ghana upholds.
He emphasised that the whistleblower act is a pivotal act that protect and has given every citizen the right to report corruption-related issues to authorities assigned to deal with corruption such as EOCO, OSP, the Police, CHRAJ and other government agencies.
Some of the basic schools that got the opportunity to be part of the anti-corruption campaign in region included Berekum Presby A JHS, Mpatasei M/A JHS, Jinijini Presby JHS and Nkrankwanta Methodist JHS in the Berekum East, West and Dormaa West Districts respectively.
A number of over 300 children got the opportunity to be informed about anti-corruption, the impact of corruption on nation building and how corruption derailed the progress of a country.
The pupils were able to suggest and ask questions related to corruption and promised to support the campaign to spread the good news of anti-corruption even as they start to deal with from their schools to avoid such forms of corruption while they are growing up.
