Bird Flu Threat: Berekum West Poultry Farmers Calls On Authorities to Deal with Negligence Poultry Farmer.


Over 7000 day old chicks reportedly have lost their lives as a result of a negligence of a poultry farm operating at Amaonaso poultry farm enclave in the Berekum West District of the Bono region.


The death of outnumbered chicks was a result of lack of food, poor maintenance and care for the chicks have led to many death creating fear and panic among the poultry farmers operating within the District.


According to the report, the failure of the of one farmer to feed over 10,000 birds caused the death of some of the birds which sent a very bad ordour across the Amaonaso community.


Some of the owners of some poultry farms has called on the government intervention over health risk that may lead to any influenza that may arise in the area.


A farm owner at K& K farms, Solomon Ansu explained that, the government has a plan to introduce Nkokonkete to the economy but some poultry farmers if a care is not taken will destroy the government initiative should any bird Flu emerge.


The Nkosuahene of Amaonaso and also a poultry farmer, Nana Yeboah Asumah I, lamented that, the situation is very worrying this is the time authorities should come in to rescue the poultry farmers from any eventualities.


Some of the residents, Abraham Kwarteng also expressed shock over the incident and recounted the losses the farm has incurred which was out of negligence of duty to ensure the birds were saved.


The District Environmental Health Director of Berekum West, Marvin Boateng has assured the residents not to fear and panic because all the necessary measures has been put in place to ensure the affected farm is secured.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. His death attracted a crowd of the Berekum people to the scene on the street of Nyamebekyere as everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the deceased over the incident of frequent robbery attacks and stealing in the Municipality.
