COURT REMANDS FIVE MOBILE MONEY SYNDICATE GANG MEMBERS INTO THE POLICE CUSTODY FOR DEFRAUDING BY FALSE PRETENCE IN WENCHI.

PRESS RELEASE: COURT REMANDS FIVE MOBILE MONEY SYNDICATE GANG MEMBERS INTO THE POLICE CUSTODY FOR DEFRAUDING BY FALSE PRETENCE IN WENCHI.
1.The Wenchi District Court, presided over by His Worship Issah Abdul Wahab, has
remanded five mobile money syndicate gang members in connection with offences
of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit; defrauding by false pretense and defrauding
by false pretence.
2.The complainant, Sylvester Declercq Mensah, aged 54, an agriculturalist at Boadan in Wenchi Municipality, on April 24, 2025, reported that he was swindled of
GHC 130, 000.00 by unknown persons.
3. Upon receipt of the information, Police launched a full-scale investigation into the
matter, leading to the arrest of the suspects on January 18, 2026.
4. The suspects are Edward Amuzu, @ Kwame Tina, aged 26, Salifu Nurudeen, @
El-man, aged 25, John Pobi, @Father, aged 37, Godfred Acquah, @kofi
Biggs@Agabus, aged 25, and Maxwell Fosu Kyei, aged 31, while one remains at
large.
The syndicate suspects were arrested on separate locations from their hideouts
in Accra, Kasoa, winneba, and Assin Fosu.
5.Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate gang have been swindling
unsuspecting mobile money users with huge sums of money in parts of the country
with the pretext that they have wrongly transacted into your account, so assist them
to reverse the transaction.
6.Further investigations revealed that the gang has been in existence and operating
for almost five years now, having defrauded victims of huge sums of money who fall to their tricks.
7.The suspects are expected to reappear before the Wenchi District Court on 26th January 2026 for continuation of proceedings.
8.The Bono Regional Police Command urges the public to be vigilant in order not
to fall prey to these mobile money fraudsters.
