Two Communities In Wassa Amenfi East Get Common Fund Projects.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, Raymond Nana Ebbah, and the Member of Parliament hon. Nicholas Amankwah has cut the sod for the construction of two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in Wassa Dawurampong and Jukwa-Hemang communities.

The projects, fully funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), aim to improve healthcare infrastructure and services in the municipality, particularly villages within the two communities.

MCE Raymond Nana Ebbah emphasized that while all communities in the municipality will get at least a project from the DACF, the CHPS compounds for Dawurampong and Jukwa-Hemang are rewards for the communities' support for the MP and President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 elections.

According to him, the two communities got the CHPS compound following a consensus reached by the MP, NDC party executive, council of elders, assembly members from the two electoral areas, and himself.

The Wassa Amenfi East MCE, Raymond Nana Ebbah, apologized to the chiefs of Dawurampong and Jukwa-Hemang for the delay in cutting the sod for the CHPS compounds. He attributed the delay to paperwork, documentation, and contract sum approval.

Nana Ebbah promised to conduct regular site visits to ensure the contractors deliver quality work.

He assured the people of Wassa Amenfi East of accountability and transparency in utilizing the assembly's common fund, pledging to undertake several social amenities to address infrastructure and socio-economic challenges.

The MCE encouraged the people in Amenfi East to take advantage of the free National Apprenticeship Program, which provides on-the-job experience and market-ready skills.

Raymond Nana Ebbah stated that both apprentices, with their masters or madams, are entitled to a monthly stipend as part of the programme plans.

He highlighted the program's potential to tackle youth unemployment and equip young people in Amenfi East with skills for economic empowerment.

Nana Ebbah also urged residents to sign up for the "Nkoko Nkitinkiti" initiative, NDC policy to boost domestic poultry farming, save foreign exchange, and generate sustainable employment, particularly for young people.

According to Raymond Nana Ebbah, reneficiaries will receive free birds, feed, and other supplies to start their poultry businesses, transforming subsistence into self-sustaining livelihoods.

The MP, hon. Nicholas Amankwah also acknowledged the communities' struggles with accessing quality healthcare, noting that residents often walk long distances to seek medical care.

Hon. Nicholas Amankwah expressed confidence that the new facilities will address these concerns and improve healthcare services in the area.

The chiefs expressed their gratitude to the MP and the municipal chief executive for the project but called for the completion of the projects on time.
