The Chief of Kato in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region, Osaberima Kwabena Diewuo Owusu II as part of his 10th anniversary celebration on his elevation as Kato Chief has handed over an ultra modern durbar grounds to the people of Kato.

The lunching of the ultra modern durbar grounds attracted a host of dignitaries including traditional leaders, the clergy, business men, residents and stakeholders such as the Omanhene of Fiapre, Obrempong Prof. Okyem Amponsah, Nana Obuman Bofotia Boamponsem II, Krontihene of Sunyani Traditional Area as well some chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council were in attendance.









The Special Guest of Honor, Obrempong Prof Okyem Amponsah in his speech expressed his appreciation to Katohene for his vision to construct for the people an ultra modern durbar grounds which can be used to host over 1000 people.

Obrempong in his speech took the opportunity to address on the disunity among some traditional leaders in some communities.


He said, it is about time the people of Kato live in unity and harmony to seek for the progress and development of the area, therefore they should rally behind Katohene for him to bring more development to Kato.






He urged all other traditional authorities to help drive home for more development in their jurisdictions since if you fail to develop your community, no other person can do it for you.


The Krontihene of Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Obuman Bofotia Boamponsem II who also doubles as the chairman of the occasion on his part congratulated the Chief of Kato in his 10th anniversary celebration of his elevation as Katohene and at the same time gifted the people with an ultra modern durbar grounds.


Nana Bofotia extended a word of advice to all traditional leaders especially in the Bono region to unite for the progress of the people.


He added that, this is not the time for chiefs and their queens to strive over a common purpose of their leadership ensuring to avoid creating disputes among themselves.


Nana Katohene, Osaberima Kwabena Diewuo Owusu II expressed his joy on such am occasion like this and thanked God for the past 10 years reign as Kato Chief.


He said, there has been a lot of challenges over the past years but was not perturbed and has stand firm till this day to hand over this an ultra modern durbar grounds to the people of Kato.


He therefore said, there is so much he has done for the people especially when it comes to areas of education where he gives Kato Presby and Roman school cements, roofing sheets and mechanized borehole respectively to boost the standard of education at Kato and will do more developmental projects even the durbar grounds explains what he can do for the people.


He again assured tye people that, he is ever ready to do greater works to bring more developmental projects in Kato in the next few years.

He therefore called on the people to support his vision to bring transformation to Kato and its surrendering communities.


Nana Afia Siraa Abibio is the Queen Mother of Kato also expressed her appreciation to the people for their support to see the project completed which he believes there is more to come to transform Kato.


Among some Berekum Traditional Council chiefs who graced the occasion are Osaberima Krobia Asante Nkum II, Abesase Hene, Osaberima Ofori Yeboah Twebabi Hene, Nana Yeboah Asumah Kukudabi, Adom Hene, Osaberima Ofori Mensah, Oforilrom Hene.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. His death attracted a crowd of the Berekum people to the scene on the street of Nyamebekyere as everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the deceased over the incident of frequent robbery attacks and stealing in the Municipality.
