Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital Holds Research Symposium With Research Experts.

Holy Family Catholic Hospital in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region has held it's 2025 Research Symposium to enhance research in the healthcare delivery service in the clinician activities at the hospital.


The symposium which was under the theme, advancing healthcare through research: from discovery to delivery" will leverage the progress of clinical care at the facility.


The research center which is shepherded by a 13 member committee the first of its kind in the region will collaborate with other institutions to promote research in the healthcare delivery value chain.


Speaking at the event, the Bono Regional Deputy Director of Clinical Care, Dr. Kwabena Kumi has commended the management of the Holy Family Catholic Hospital for their bold initiative to start a research office because the world has now moved into the evidence based case discovery in the healthcare delivery.


He called on the team to work to ensure the objective of the research office is achieved in the years to come.


The administrator of the hospital, Rev. Sister Rena V John, indicated that, research is a platform to exchange ideas in both science and service and they have that collective desire to transform data into a meaningful impact in clinical research.


She said, every unit of the hospital will be given the opportunity and resources to identify a case or a problem to be researched upon to enhance the work they are offering to the people of Berekum.

The Medical Director of the  Holy Family Catholic Hospital, Dr. Frank Enoch Gyamfi stressed that the hospital is working to move from clinical treatment to research to bridge the gab in data analysis of science and service.


He said, over the years, the hospital has failed to make use of the data they have gathered out their services and the research center this time is a way out to help them apply data into meaningful clinical description.


He called for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to support them strive in this new research office, since research involves a lot support.







He added that, all necessary arrangements have been made to allow all departments to inculcate the idea of research into their services.


The Vice Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Prof Elvis Aasre Bediako also called for funding support for the hospital since research is a cost effective.


He said, UENR will partner with the Holy Family Hospital in this research initiative because as an academician, he understand the change research can bring to impact on the healthcare delivery at the facility.


The research team were encouraged to continue motivating the rest of the staff to create an enabling environment to pave the way for all to get involved in the new path the hospital is carting.


Among the key guest who graced the event included, Dr. Kwabena Kumi, Deputy Director, Clinical Care of Bono Regional Health Directorate, Prof Napoleon Bellua Sam, HOD Medical Research and Innovation, UDS and Nana Akua Gyasi-Duku (Mrs), Deputy Manager, NIHR GSU, Ghana Hub and Dr. Yaw Aniweh (Snr. Research Fellow and PI at WACCBIP, University of Ghana)

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . According to eye-witnesses, the suspected thief's lifeless body was found on the food vendor metal container as he attempted to steal from the container of the vendor who operates in a metal container. His death attracted a crowd of the Berekum people to the scene on the street of Nyamebekyere as everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the deceased over the incident of frequent robbery attacks and stealing in the Municipality.
