Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings had supportive spirit – Maestro Kojo Antwi

Africa’s music maestro, Kojo Antwi, has described the late former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, as being loving and having a supportive spirit.

He said the late former first lady was more than a respected public figure in the country.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who is the longest-serving First Lady of Ghana, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a short illness in Accra at age 76.

Eulogising the late founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, The Maestro Kojo Antwi wrote on his social media handles, “My condolences to The Rawlings Family”.

“More than just a respected public figure, I regarded her as a loving and supportive spirit. A true advocate for women’s rights. Ghana suffers the loss of a graceful soul. Rest in perfect peace Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. Damirifa due”.

Kojo Antwi attached a memory picture the late first family took with him at his first ever “24th December Kojo Antwi Experience" held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra about thirty (30) years ago.

The couple never stopped attending the show while both were alive, and the last one Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings attended was at the UPSA in the year 2023.

The Maestro recalled that the late former First Lady took him, his family and the band to Côte d'Ivoire to play for the then First Lady of Ivory Coast, Henriette Konan Bédié, during President Henri Konan Bédié’s era.

He added that First Lady Henriette Konan Bédié asked Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to bring them to play during an all-African first lady’s conference.
