WHEN TYRANNY WEARS THE CLOAK OF DEMOCRACY.

From The Desk of A Patriot,

Kwaku Antwi-Agyei,Esq

If you did not see this coming, then you probably may have been living on another planet. In fact,we did not need a prophet or a soothsayer to predict that the hapless Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo  was going to suffer the fate she has suffered on the 1st day of September,2025

The whole episode began to take shape on a political platform when NDC was in opposition during the campaign era where the current President himself stoked the embers for the removal of the CJ.

The drama kept unfolding until it took its final shape from a number of petitions for the removal of the embattled CJ.

Today, history has been made to crumble the independence of the judiciary. A hand of an intruder has punctured an otherwise stalwart judicial arm of government. The light of justice has been dimmed by the executive arm of government in a manner unprecedented in the anals of Ghana’s fledgling democratic history.

Hasn’t a dangerous precedent been set? Have we not set a bad example for our nation?

What is nauseating is the fact that the defenders of this judicial coup de tat would quickly jump to equalizing this shameless act with what happened sometime back with the electoral commission. Then why do they defend this act by saying the process went through the prescribed constitutional process, if indeed it is just a tit for tat and an eye for an eye for what was done in the past.

Her ladyship, Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, has been held as a scapegoat. She fought a good fight. She fought gallantly and suffered another “martyrdom “ of the rule of law. I salute you, madam, for you have gone through a lot of grueling confrontation with tyranny. History will be kind to you. Time will tell what today could not reveal concerning your removal.

It is so sad when tyranny wears the cloak of democracy and clandestinely butchers the bastion of democracy, the judiciary, and makes it a pawn.

It is indeed so sad 😢 😔
