THE DILEMMA OF THE NDC GOVERNMENT REGARDING ACQUISITION OF PRESIDENTIAL JET.

I am not an expert, so I leave the technical aspect for those who are trained to deal with it.

However, I am a fully-fledged Ghanaian, and for that reason, matters of national interest affect me; that is why I have the  desire to share my views on such matters.

Former President Akufo-Addo was heavily battered, insulted, and virtually demonized by zealous and power-drunk propagandists. Prominent among them was Okudjeto Ablakwa, who saw it as an opportunity to use the issue of the Presidential Jet to launch his dimmed political light back into flame.

Ablakwa may have succeeded with getting the average Ghanaian hoodwinked and scored political points for that adventure. But hey, what about our national pride  and the safety of our president? That is where Ablakwa nailed himself and his NDC party. Because they are now in power but caught in a quandary on whether Ghana needs a presidential jet or not. What a shame!

We are being told that the current state of the Presidential Jet, Dassult Falcon 900, registered as 9G-EXE, which was acquired in 2010, is not fit for purpose.

Why should President Mahama endure such an inconvenient trip to Japan by having to wait for 22 hours in transit in Dubai when he is on a national assignment? Indeed, this is a development that dents the image of our nation, Ghana 🇬🇭. See how you have exposed our president to such a risk because of what you did yesterday when Former President Akufo-Addo was in office.

Have we forgotten that the security of the first gentleman of the land is paramount as well as his comfort and safety?

Ivory Coast government uses a Gulfstream IV and Gulfstream V. It also uses Airbus A320 and A319.

Kenya government currently operates a Fokker 70 registered KAF308 and officially named *Harambee One*. Other African countries have acquired a befitting presidential jet for the use of their government officials, so why not Ghana?

The gospel truth I wish to emphasize is that the merits of owning a befitting and usable presidential jet far outweigh anything to the contrary. Our national pride, our inspiration, the safety, security, comfort, and confidence of our president are all embedded in owning our presidential jet.

Let me conclude by cautioning the likes of Okudjeto Ablakwa to desist from unwarranted politicking over issues of  national character like the one under discussion. For,when it comes to our national pride, we sail or sink together as a nation whether we like it or not.

As for me, I  support the motion that Ghana 🇬🇭 needs a presidential jet urgently, irrespective of which political party is in power.

I rest my case.
