The Eastern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Jeff Konadu Addo, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi, describing him as a peacemaker and astute politician.

Mr. Ernest Yaw Kumi passed away on July 7th at the age of 40.

Speaking on Sunyani-based Ark FM evening news on Monday which was monitored by Alrich24newsgh.blogspot.com, the regional chairman stressed that the former Akwatia lawmaker would be remembered for his tireless efforts in promoting peace and unity.

According to Chairman Addo, the late MP was a diplomatic politician who focused on constructive dialogue and argument rather than personal attacks or insults.

Adding that his commitment to the NPP party and his constituents was unwavering, and his loss is felt deeply.

The Chairman revealed that Mr. Kumi was admitted to Lister Hospital on Sunday night after complaining of heart pains.

Jeff Konadu Addo said, despite being treated and reportedly in good condition, Mr. Yaw Kumi suddenly passed away on Monday, just 30 minutes after his wife left his side to seek permission from her workplace to absent herself and attend to him.

The Eastern Regional Chairman described Mr. Kumi's death as shocking and untimely, considering his energetic and active approach to his parliamentary and constituency duties.

Mr. Konadu extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, noting that the NPP has suffered an irreparable loss with the passing of a truly exceptional leader, whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

He said that the party will engage with the deceased's family to determine the next steps.
