Suhum MCE Strengthens Ties with traditional leaders to spur development.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Suhum Municipal in the Eastern Region, Hon. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah Afasi, has stepped up efforts to strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and local government to accelerate development across the municipality.


The MCE on Sunday as part of familiarity initiative, she paid a courtesy call on Osaberima Ayah Kofi, Omanhene of Suhum Traditional Area.


According to her, the engagement would deepen collaboration between the municipal assembly and the traditional authorities, she said, building a healthy relationship with chiefs is the fundamental to ensure peace and progress in in Suhum.


The engagement focused on education, healthcare, job creation and pracebuilding as key areas considered critically for unlocking municipality's development potential. 



The Chiefs agreed agreed that more coordinated efforts were  needed to address persistent challenges in the roads sector, healthcare, education, water and sanitation.


We are committed to work together to enhance road improvements, education, health, water and sanitation  developments in the municipality, which remains a major concerns.


She emphasised that the visit is part of a broader strategy by the Suhum Municipal Assembly to strengthen local governance by incorporating the wisdom, influence and leadership of the traditional authorities in planning and implementation.


The Suhum Omanhene, Osaberima Ayeh Kofi pledged to leverage their respective authority to Support, promote inclusive socio-economic growth.


He unanimously pledged the support for the MCE  to ensures human and infrastructure transformation. He reiterated to offer the needed support as a traditional ruler of Suhum, to promote education, healthcare, roads infrastructure and other sectors in the municipality.



Chiefs are the custodian of the land would continue to offer our unflinching support to the newly MCE to facilitate infrastructural development.


Osaberima lauded the MCE visit and the  government  reduction of fuel and the cedi to the  dollar as a relief. He reiterated that the cedis performance over the few month had continues to show a magical depreciation against the US dollar in the early part of March 2025.


He said the cedi has shown magical stability against the dollar over the few month with slight fluctuations in exchange rates across different markets.
