Local Miner and Businessman Pledges to Protect Water Bodies in Kwabeng.
A local miner and businessman Richard Asare, has assured the community of Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region that, he will never engage in activities that would harm the water bodies in the area.
Mr. Asare emphasized the importance of preserving the environment, particularly the community's sole source of water.
He highlighted his commitment to responsible mining practices, stating that he reclaims every land he works on and uses environmentally friendly methods.
He differentiated his approach from destructive methods used by some miners, such as chanfan machines, which can pollute water bodies.
The local miner and businessman also emphasized the benefits of mining to communities, including job creation, improved livelihoods, and transformation of remote villages. He called on government officials and critics to visit mining communities before making assumptions about the industry.
He also urged the government to implement practical regulations that promote responsible mining rather than banning the industry altogether. He also called for the creation of more jobs for the youth before considering any bans on mining.
