Berekum East MCE: Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar nominated as Municipal Chief Executive.

Berekum East MCE: Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar nominated as Municipal Chief Executive.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, following Article 247 of the 1992 constitution and the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act 2017, has nominated Hon. Fati Abubakar as the municipal chief executive officer for Berekum East Municipal Assembly.

Hon. Hajia Fati Abubakar, the former TEIN President, has affectionately been called by most people in the municipality and beyond, has been an Assembly Woman for the Berekum Zongo Electoral Area for three consecutive terms.

She became the main contender to win the Bono Regional NDC Deputy Women's Organiser in 2017/2018 and later contested for the Bono Regional NDC Women's Organiser and won in 2021/2022 to date.

Quite apart from her political position, she is the current presiding member of the Berekum East Municipal Assembly.

Her appointment to the position of MCE is another level to offer her the opportunity to test her experience to drive Berekum forward for development.

What she now needs is the mobilisation of the Berekum people to rally behind her to change the image of Berekum for the sustainable business drive, as Berekum is the business hub of the Bono region.

Her confirmation will see a higher percentage of YES votes, as the NDC assembly members outweigh the NPP assembly members in the Berekum East municipal assembly.

Hon. Hajia Fatima Binta Abubakar nomination, if confirmed will be the second woman to occupy the Municipal Chief Executive Officer position in the Berekum East Municipal Assembly.
