Sky Train Saga: Former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund CEO who made $2m payment for Sky trains Hiding in Senegal - AG
The Attornèy General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine has said that the main suspect who allegedly made a payment of two million dollars to AI Sky Train, Mr Solomon Asamoa who was the Chief Executive Office of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund(GIIF) is hiding in Senegal.
According to Dr. Ayine, the former CEO was originally hiding in the South Africa and upon hearing that Ghana's Security was after him, he quickly moved to Senegal where he has been contacted and has promised to be in Ghana in April 2025.
Currently, the entire former Board of Directors of GIIF, which was chaired by Professor Christopher Amryaw Akumfi, is being investigated by Ghana's National Investition Bereua.
It is based on this revelation by the Attorney General that certain security experts have suggested that, now that the security has been able to locate the former CEO, Mr. Solomon Asamoah, it would be prudent to bring him to Ghana for prosecution instead of persuing the former board members who have all declined knowledge of the payment.
At a press conference today, the Attorney General, Dominic Ayine said investigations have so far shown that there was no approval by the board of directors.
Mr Asamoah hiding in Senegal. He left Ghana to South Africa on February 2, 2025.
He was contacted and he said he’s not coming to Ghana until after 3 months.
If he wants to be tried in absentia it will be done, he said.
According to the Minister of Justice, there was no board approval for such transactions.
Conditions precedent for payment had not been met.
In one board meeting a board member questioned the payment and he didn’t receive any reasonable response.
The information explained that, the company which received 2 million dollars is a nonexistent company in Mauritius
