Ministry of local government, chieftaincy and religious affairs to build religious unit.
The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim has reiterated the governmentās commitment to fostering religious unity and upholding social values in Ghana. Speaking during a visit to the National Chief Imam, the minister has condemned insults and attacks on eminent personalities and traditional leaders, urging Ghanaians to uphold respect for elders and social heritage. He called on the Chief Imam to offer guidance whenever government officials stray from the right path.
He announced plans by the government to establish a task force in collaboration with the Chief Imam to oversee the Islamic National Thanksgiving Service initiative. Similar task forces will also be set up for both Christian and Islamic fraternities.
He further assured that the government is actively working towards fulfilling its campaign promise of instituting a second Islamic holiday, emphasizing the high priority the President places on religious inclusivity.
He assured the Chief Imam of the governmentās unwavering support for religious and chieftaincy affairs, highlighting the importance of maintaining the countryās long-standing social harmony.
