FOREST DEGRADING: FOUR BEFORE COURT OVER ILLEGAL LOGGING IN THE FOREST RESERVE.
The Sunyani Forest District of the Forestry Commission has hauled four people before the Fiapre Circuit Court over illegal logging in the forest reserve.
The four people are Prince Owusu, Solomon Ransford , Johnson Berko and one Ebenezer who are before the court over alleged illegal logging in the Ayum plantation area of the Amaama forest reserve.
Mr. Francis Brobbey the Sunyani Forest District Manager in an interview said, the four were arrested during the time they were illegally cutting 45 of the Cinderella trees which cost over 146,000 Ghana cedis.
He said the court will reconvene on the 27th of this month to continue the case since the accused told the court they are not guilty.
Mr. Francis Brobbey therefore called on all stakeholders to help protect the forest and help not allow few individuals to destroy it.
