MILITARY READY FOR PEACEFUL ELECTIONS - GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING CENTRAL COMMAND.
The General Officer Commanding Central Command which comprises Ashanti Region,Bono Region, Ahafo and Bono East Region, Brigadier General Michael Opoku has stated that the Military is ready and committed to ensure peaceful elections come December 7th.
According to Brigadier General Michael Opoku, the military will not be at the polling stations but rather they will do patrols and be on standby in case of any emergency situations then they will move in to support.
He added that we have only one Ghana and they will do their best to ensure peaceful elections, even though there are some challenges but we should remember Ghana belongs to us therefore we must work hard to ensure peace.
General Officer Commanding Central Command Brigadier General Michael Opoku disclosed this in an interview when the Central Command Organized Steeplechase Competition for 3rd Battalion, 4th Battalion,145 Armoured Regiment and Central Command in Sunyani.
He urged Ghanaians to do their best in ensuring peaceful elections so that we can continue our socio-economic activities to boost the living standard of the citizens in the country.
Under the exercise the soldiers run for 12 kilometers, cross the Bar, Crippled the wall, Fire Ditch, Tiger Net, Water Ditch among others.
The Commanding Officer stated that he is happy about the exercise looking at how the soldiers had exhibited their strength which shows that they are ready to defend the country.
Brigadier General Michael Opoku stated that soldiers are ready to exercise their constitutional mandate by protecting the sovereign people of Ghanaians including land, sea and others.
General Officer Commanding Central Command Brigadier General Michael Opoku commended the government for providing residential accommodation for soldiers in both Kumasi and Sunyani.
He said because of lack of accommodations at the barracks most of the soldiers stayed in town so the new accommodations will help bring back the soldiers to barracks.
He urged the general public to help the military to flash out all criminal soldiers from the society.
