Road Minister’s Tour Bono Region to Cut Sod for the Construction of Berekum-Sampa Road.

A 119 kilometers Brekum-Sampa Road to start in earnest as minister of roads Hon. Asenso Boakye breaks ground for commencement of work at Jinijini the Berekum West District capital of the Bono region.


In a short ceremony held at Jinjini, the Minister introduced the construction firm RANGO Construction Ltd. to the traditional authorities and the people of the area for the beginning of the project.


This road is to be rehabilitated at an estimated cost of GHC125 million into an asphaltic overlay under the following scope of work • SCARIFICATION OF EXISTING FAILED BITUMINOUS SURFACE
• RECONSTRUCTION OF SOME
SECTIONS
• CONSTRUCTION OF U-DRAINS
• PATCHING OF POTHOLES
• LAYING OF BASE COURSE
• ASPHALTIC OVERLAY,
which will start from Sunyani-Dumasua-Nsoatre-Berekum-Jinijini-Fetentaa-Botokrom-Babianiha-Jepekrom-Drobo-Dwenem-Mpuasu-Adamusu-Asare-Seketia-Amanfoso-Morle-Suma Ahenkro.and Sampa.


Assuring the people of the region of a timely and quality of work within twenty four (24) months, the Sector Minister called on the communities to assist the contractor in the best possible ways to ensure the completion of work for the benefit the country.


The Minister also called on the communities to take advantage of the project by availing themselves for the various job opportunities accompanying this major project.


He intimated that, "this construction is a major project and very dear to the heart of the Government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and so, we are here today to officially announce for the commencement of work in a few days."




“Bono is typically the bread basket of our country and so, this thick asphaltic overlay works would facilitate farming activities to boost the agricultural sector and the economy of the Country “ he added.


He singled out the Member of Parliament and Parliamentary candidate for the area , Hon Kwaku Agyanim Boateng popularly know as Agoogo as a hard working MP and has been very instrumental to the realization of the project hence called on the people of Brekum West to rally behind him and the flagbearer of the Party, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia since the region cannot afford to stall the work by voting against them in the upcoming elections.


He also appealed to the other constituencies who are also beneficiaries of the project including Jaman south and North to rally behind their Parliamentary candidates to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) the strength it needs to work from parliament to assist the Bawumia led government in 2025 to champion the desire development of the People.





On his part, Nana Asare Baffour II, the chief of Jinijini who doubles as the Akyempem Hene of the Brekum traditional council expressed the satisfaction of the people to the Akufo Addo led Government.


The Chief made a profound statement that, the Akufo Addo led NPP has outperformed any other government since independence in the areas of Education, Agriculture, Health and Roads.


Touching on Agriculture, the revered chief described the government’s flagship planting for food and jobs as novelty that has helped the people in the Region immensely.


Stating that, the subsidies as provided on farm inputs by the government in the phase 1 of the project has transformed a lot of lives in the region. He also explained that, the Planting for Export and Rural Development by the government has also ensured the free distribution of millions of cashew seedlings to the area because the farmers there are predominantly cashew Farmers.


He again underscored that, the announcement of the government agenda One hundred and eleven 100-bed hospitals across the country, they thought it was going to be difficult yet the government has demonstrated once again that it is capable hence, Jinijini as a district is also a beneficiary and the progress of work is beyond description.


He then touched on the impact of the government’s Free SHS policy for Senior High and TVET schools, saying, he is yet to see any government since independence that has invested so much as the government of Nana Addo to train the next generation.


Speaking on the roads, Nana Asare held that, the Akufo government has gifted the people in the area with a number of roads including Jamdede- Kuraso inner and outer lanes, Potokrom Nkyenkyemanmu road, Jinijini town roads and others deserves commendation and it is only the Nana led government and the help of Hon Kwaku Agyenim Boateng that could honor the District in the manner they did.


He then implored the people to come out in their numbers and show appreciation by rallying behind Dr Alhaji Mahamudu BAWUMIA and the his Parliamentary candidates because the NPP government has been fair to them and would do more to spur the needed growth and prosperity for the people and the country as a whole.


Speaking at the same venue, the Bono Regional Chairman, Mr Kwame Baffoe Abronye reminded the people in the region on the need to jealously protect the NPP government by cataloging several roads done in the region by the government including, the Dormaa town roads, Brekum town roads, ongoing Sunyani East and West town roads, Brekum to Sunyani Nsaagobesa road etc including the ground breaking 119 kilometers Sunyani - Sampa road to commence in the coming days.


Present at the occasion also were, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon Justina Owusu Banahene, other Parliamentary candidates such as Col Rt Kwadwo Damoah of Jaman North, Mr Enock Nyarkoh of Jaman South, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Constituency Chairman and other executives.


The presence of the Nana Yeboah Kyere Darteh, the chief of Nasapor who also is the Acting President of the Brekum Traditional council equally appreciated the government for the project.


The Minister from there continue the tour to inspects some roads in the Sunyani West the Wenchi Constituencies with assurance of attending to them in the coming days.

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono Region Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II has passed on. The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
