AHEAD OF 2024 ELECTION: AVOID HATE SPEECH - METHODIST BISHOP TELLS POLITICAL PARTIES.
The Bishop of the Methodist Church in the Tema Diocese of the Greater Accra Region, Rt.Rev.Samuel Ofori Akyea has called on political parties to avoid hate speech and the use of intemperate language as the country gears towards the 2024 elections.
According to him, the banters on radio and TV stations by the NPP and the NDC activists must be devoid of vulgar language and be decorum as the upcoming younger generations are learning.
He made this assertions at their 2024 annual synod held at Sakumono.This year’s four days’ synod which was the 27th edition, was on the theme: “Discipleship: Growing into Christain Maturity.
The synod, which took stock of the work of God in the diocese, discussed various reports from the various circuits in the diocese, including strategic plans of the diocese and the way forward for the Church.
Addressing the congregation, he said as the country gears towards the elections, its important to ensure that the country remains peaceful so that citizens could go about their businesses without hinderances.
He added that going forward the Church is looking at increasing their number base through envangelism.
