Kyebi Apapamhemaa Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio Urges the Government to Subsidise Sanitary Pads for Students.

Kyebi Apapamhemaa Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio has donated a quantity of sanitary pads to over 400 Kyebi Apapam school girls.

Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio speaking with Alrich24newsgh.blogspot.com news reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, said this intervention is to help teenage girls maintain good personal hygiene and to encourage them to stay in school during their menstrual cycle.

She donated when celebrating her 3rd anniversary as a Queen Mother in Kyebi Apapam. She explained that the cost and tariffs on sanitary pads in the country are very high, which makes it difficult for teenagers, especially those in rural communities to buy them.

She indicated that the donation was to give sanitary pads to the girls in the school to safeguard and allow them to be in school as it will ease the challenges they face during their menstruation.

She called for a collective effort between parents, traditional leaders and stakeholders to help encourage and support girl child education as well as guide and counsel them from engaging in sexual activities that may lead to teenage pregnancy and its challenges.

The brand, as its name suggests, is keen on making all women have the ideal schoolgirls treatment by making them confident while providing them safety and comfort during menstruation.

The sanitary pad brand is not only affordable but guards jealously against leakage because it’s made with highly sourced cotton and a silky dry top sheet that makes it easy for super absorption.

This makes the brand preferred for both light and heavy flows. No matter one's line of activities during menstruation, be it sports, schooling, an event, or catching up with friends, sanitary pads can be trusted whenever and wherever.

Apart from making women feel comfortable even in those moments of discomfort, these sanitary pads also come with two free panty liners.

This could come in handy during light flows, at the start or getting to the end of one's flow cycle. They are also useful during ovulation to prevent droplets or stains and also help improve the health of the female genital organ.

The sanitary pads are resilient and do not tear under pressure during heavy flow. The pad comes in a 290 MM size that covers from end-to-end, making no room for leakage.

The Sanitary pads will not only serve the menstrual hygiene needs of women but also aim to partner with well-meaning female empowerment organisations to drive home upbeat education on menstruation and to also provide support for women.

According to a New York Times study, 58 per cent of women have felt a sense of embarrassment simply because they were on their period while 42 per cent have experienced period shaming.

The above anomaly is a happenstance sanitary pad that aims at curbing in the short term and eradicating it in the long term. As such, the brand is shoring up resources to provide help in four thematic areas with some initiatives. These include; intimate moments on the socials, and Learn with Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio to help the schoolgirls in her area.

The ‘Intimate Moments on the Socials’ initiative will provide an opportunity for schoolgirls to engage professionals on menstrual hygiene-related topics and get value-loaded answers that will go a long to help them live a healthy life, before during and post menstruation.

As an add-on to provide more resilience, the Learn with Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio initiative will provide a platform where school girls will be given practical lessons on how to deal with menstrual shame and to make them very confident as the initiative also sensitizes the general public to curb the shaming of young girls during menstruation.

To make life very comfortable in an instance where schoolgirls are greeted with a surprise or unplanned menstruation or run out of pads. With this initiative, women and girls need not worry anymore as Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio has got them covered.

The Nanahemaa will not only offer support for schoolgirls and provide a platform where women can talk about anything girly but will also be a platform where young schoolgirls meet with other women doing well in their fields of endeavour to network and help each other achieve their goals.

This pad is ready to strike partnerships with female organizations to help empower schoolgirls and to create a sustainable and valuable network that will help them not only to overcome issues surrounding menstruation or menstrual hygiene but also to help them with their professional and corporate journeys.

Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio has distributed some sanitary pads to schoolgirls in two schools in Kyebi Apapam at Abuakwa south of the Eastern Region.

Some of the beneficiary students also spoke with our news reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, who thanked Nana Ama Serwaa Owusua Fofio Kyebi Apapamhemaa for her support.
