CLOSURE OF KOLEBU DIALYSIS OPD UNIT: PARLIAMENT DEMANDS HEALTH MINISTER TO ANSWER QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE.
A ranking Member of Health Committee, Hon. Mintah Akandoh on delivering a statement on the floor of parliament on the closure of the Kole-bu Dialysis facility said, he cannot fathom why the facility has still not been open after the minister of Health, Hon. Kweku Agyeman Manu had promised that plans are far in advance to have the facility opened yet the facility has not been opened for OPD service.
He therefore proposed to the house to invite the Minister to answer questions why the facility has still not been opened to the affected patients.
Hon. Akandoh reiterated that, a report suggests that, since the closure of the facility, more than 19 patients have died and that calls for urgent attention.
On the same matter, the Majority Chief Whip and the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Hon. Anor Dompreh commended his fellow Member for drawing the attention of the house to invite the Minister on the dialysis saga and pledged his support for the call.
He said, the matter of health must not be taken for granted of which can happen to anybody therefore the call for the Minister to appear before Parliament is in the right direction.
In the course of the discussion, the Deputy Second Deputy of Speaker who presided of the proceeding assured the house to anticipate the Minister's presence on Thursday to brief the house as to why he has given directive yet the Hospital has not been opened.
