Berekum Traditional Leaders Calls on Minister of Local Government and Regional Integration Over Abandoned Roads Ahead of the Late Omanhene's Funeral.
The Minister of and Local Government and RegionalIntegration, Hon. Dan Botwe has paid a working visit to Berekum East Municipal of the Bono Region to cut sod for the Construction of the 3rd phase of the Berekum Thursday Market project under the World Bank Government secured loan.
He said Berekum has been traditionally named the golden city which formed part of 35 Municipalities in the country which will benefit from $200 million loan from the World Bank to uplift the standard of such Municipalities.
He explained that, Berekum is benefiting from the loan which the 1st, 2nd phases have been completed and came to pay a visit to observed the progress of work at the Thursday Market construction which he has cur sod for the constructionof the3rd phase to commences.
He added that, the project when finished will help the market traders to have a conducive place to trade all the time and to also provide an atmosphere where the traders can easily sell in the market.
He urged the women to understand and come to the market to use it for the purpose for which it was constructed and called on both the Municipal Assembly and the traditional authorities to encouraged the market women to embrace the use of the market.
Osaberima Amo Tima Gyan, the Twafohene of Berekum and a representative from the Traditional council called on the Minister to also as a matter of urgency implore the President and the Minister of Roads to consider calling on the contractors who have abandoned Berekum inner-roads Construction to come back to site before the Funeral of the late Berekum Paramount Chief is held in November 2023.
He said even Otumfour Osei Tutu II is coming to Berekum to join the Traditional leaders and the people of Berekum to celebratie the funeral of the late Berekum Omahene, Dasebre Dr. Amankona Dewuo II therefore they should compelled the contractors to come back to site to resurfaced the roads before the funeral.
