Assemblyman, Teachers and Students, of Islamic M/A Primary School cry for help over the death trap building.

Assemblyman, teachers, and students at the Akorabo Islamic M/A  Primary and Junior High School have bemoaned the devastating state of their school building. 


The school, within the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region, is gradually collapsing from the roof to the building itself. 


The death trap school has left Assemblymen, parents, students, and teachers in fear at Akorabo a town in Suhum Municipality. 




A visit to the school by news reporter, Apelete Kofi-Michel revealed that the school lacks almost everything, including desks, textbooks, and other teaching and learning materials. 


Apart from the rusting state of its roofing sheets, many big holes had been created in them, directly exposing the students to the scorching sun and rain.


Assemblyman for the area hon. Narkotey Kofi Jacob who spoke with our reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, stated that the school is compelled to shut down anytime it rains. 


He said the development has impacted negatively on the academic work of their wards, adding that it makes them perform abysmally in B.E.C.E. 


AAssemblymansaid this condition of anonymity revealed that most students and teachers do not find it pleasant to stay in the death trap classrooms that have also become habitats for goats, snakes, lizards, and other dangerous reptiles. 



Wee smokers and night owls he says, also play a role because the school is typically a free-to-enter facility due to the lack of a fence wall and doors for most of the classrooms. 


The situation is very disheartening and worrying. The poor condition of the school is affecting teaching and learning in the school.


Some of my colleagues' teachers usually come here and run away due to the unendingly devastating state of the school, Assemblyman said.


Some students who spoke to Alrich24newsgh.com news reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, also revealed that they are usually compelled to run home for safety cover when it is raining due to the shaking nature of the building. 


We're pleading with the authority to come to our aid. We don't want the school to collapse on us, they lamented. 


We students usually study under this death trap school, which gives them pressure and all kinds of fear, students stated. 


They have called on the government, philanthropists, individuals and other NGOs to come to their aid.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs.
