Suhum Gorjiase Residents, and Drivers called for help over Deplorable Road Network.

Residents and moto riders at Gorjiase in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region have called on the government to fix their bad roads with immediate effect.


Due to the bad nature of the road, pregnant women are dying, residents are dying when they fall sick which is not helping them.


Although the government declared last year as the year of roads, they have not seen any improvement in their road.


Expressing their displeasure on the poor road network, drivers and residents who spoke to Alrich24newsgh.com news Reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, described the bad nature of the roads as streams on dams, especially during the rainy season which makes movement difficult especially at night.


Drivers who used the road daily added that we have to always visit the mechanic anytime we use the road because our vehicles always break down and as a result, we sometimes do not want to use the road at all.


However, the residents further appealed to the Government and the Department of Urban Roads (DUR) to improve the dilapidated road network in the area which has over the years impacted their businesses negatively.



They added that the people of Gorjiase are a farming Community who produces cocoa, plantain, cassava, Cocoyam and among others.


The assemblyman for the area Hon. Frank Danso also said, how the residents of Gorjiase are suffering from the bad nature of the road in the area is very bad especially pregnant women who usually die while transported during labour due to the bad nature of the road.


Gorjiasehene Nana Mark Oyisi also speak about the bad nature of the road in their Community but called for immediate intervention by the government to reshape the road for the people in the area.
