NDC James Gyakye Quason Re-Elected in the Assin North By-Election.

The Assin North Member of Parliament Hon. James Gyakye Quason has been re-elected in today's by-election for the second time as the NDC Member of Parliament for the people in the Assin North constituency.


The MP-elect Gyakye Quason pulled several 17,245 votes which represents 57.56% of the total votes while the NPP candidate Charles Opoku also pulled a total of 12,630 votes representing 42.15% of the total votes cast and the LPG candidate Beenice Enyonam Sefenu has 87 votes representing 0.29% of the total vote cast.


The Electoral Commission's Returning Officer for Assin North declared James Gyekye Quason the winner of the by-election.


The total valid vote cast was 29,962 and 30,418 is the total vote cast and rejected votes were 456 votes making the NDC Member Parliament Gyakye Quasin win with a wide margin of 5,158 votes.

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council. Berekum Katohemaa reinntroduces Traditional Akan Games for Children at Kato Community.
