The Suhum Municipal NCCE has celebrated Constitutional Week which was under the theme "Thirty Years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy. Building National Cohesion Through Civic Education and Participation in Local Governance.

Madam Comfort Asabea, the Suhum Municipal Director of NCCE, said let's nurture the next generation to Consolidate our efforts.

She said Constitution Week is to sustain the awareness of the principles of the 1992 Constitution. The Suhum Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged the public to develop oneness and Ghana's first attitude in all their endeavours.

This came into light during engagement with residents, churches, parents, the Association of Schools and various identifiable groups in the Municipality by the commission as part of its activities making this year's Constitution Week celebration, under the theme, let Nurture the Next Generation Consolidate our Efforts.

Elaborating on the theme, Madam Comfort Asabea said this is to emphasize our identity as one people with a common destiny and that national interest supersedes ethnicity and all other forms of sentiments. She said.

On his part, Mr Emmanuel Agbashie (Senior Civic Education Officer said Nurture the next generation of the youth to take up the mantle after us.

So our toil and hard work be protected and improved upon for our children's children to benefit. Thirty years back most of us were around and we know the stress and difficulties we went through.

He asked would you want your children to go through that same struggle? That is why it is imperative to nurture our youth to hold on to what we have now, improve it and consolidate it for our children's children, just like how countries outside Africa have built their democracies.

The baton is with us, we have to transfer it to the youth.  Are the youth ready?  They can only be ready when we NURTURE them. Let us make it a point to nurture them wherever we find ourselves.

The Suhum Municipal Office of NCCE  also encouraged the Citizens to get themselves involved in the upcoming District Level Elections. He said.
