Berekum NEDCo Station Control Room On Fire Causing Total Power Outage.

A fire outbreak that broke around 4:30 am on Wednesday dawn on 21st December 2022 has destroyed the Northern Electricity Development Corporation (NEDCo) station control room leading to a total power outage in Berekum and its environs.

The whole station is down now due to the fire outbreak that is believed to have destroyed the machines in the control room.

The situation has also affected the whole of Berekum township, Drobo, Sampa, Wamfie and Dormaa Ahenkro as well as other communities.

According to the management, a team of experts have been called to find out the possible means to restore power to stabilise the situation before the Christmas season.

The cause of the fire is yet to ascertain by the management of NEDCo in Berekum but has called on their customers to inform them about the situation and their preparedness to rescue the situation.

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council.
