Watch Video: Sunyani-Chiraa Road Flooded as Commuters Stranded to Drive Through After a Heavy Rains at Kobede.

There have been several reports of the poor  nature of the  Sunyani to Chiraa road which is giving commuters and vehicle owners a deep cause to worry.

The situation is becoming worse by the day if one considers the volume of vehicular traffic on the road. It is a thing of shame for this major trunk road to deteriorate to this deplorable levels.

This road is important in many respects. First, it links two regional capitals ie. the Bono Regional Capital (Sunyani) and the Bono East Regional Capital (Techiman).

It will be recalled that drivers who ply the road (Kotokrom, Yahimakrom, Chiraa, Techiman, Wenchi, Nkoranza, Kintampo, Tamale and many other towns withdrew their services a couple of days ago in protest against the poor nature of the road.

At the outskirts of Kobedi, a village on the road, deep holes have developed and destroyed the colvert and the small bridge in that area. It has become very dangerous to drive through but the Highways Authority in the region has developed I have see nothing nature, hear nothing and talk nothing attitude.

The Sunyani West Municipality has very poor road network. With the exception of the Sunyani Fiapre Nsoatre Highway which forms part of the Kumasi to Cote D'Ivoire International Highway constructed under Jerry John Rawlings several decades ago, the municipality cannot boast of just one good road.

Roads in the municipal capital Odumase are worse than the Chiraa road under consideration. If the road linking a major commercial area like Techiman cannot be fixed but remains in its current state then one can imagine the fate of roads leading to areas with less economic activities.

Authorities in the Bono Region must wake up from their slumber because they are taken the people in the Sunyani West Municipality for a ride. There may come a time when we won't allow ourselves to endure this hopeless situation.

The youth of Chiraa in the coming days would register its displeasure about the turn of events for the hi authorities to know that we also deserve better. We have had enough of the see nothing, hear nothing and talk nothing attitude of our leaders.
