Otumfour Osei Tutu II Commends UMaT and GNASSM for Coming together to fight Against Water Destruction.

The Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II, has commended the members of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners and the University of Mines and Technology for the unity to ensure that their activities do not affect water bodies in the country and to help our water bodies. 


Otumfuor at his palace  welcome the leadership of thses entities, GNASSM and University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) praised them for bringing out members under one united front which he thinks will enable them take supervising role to support the government's effort in protecting water bodies against illegal activities in mining communities.


The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, was speaking when the leadership of Ghana National Association of Small Scale miners in collaboration with the management of University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) paid a courtesy call on him at Manhyia palace. The visit was done as part of this year's celebration of Sustainable Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Awareness Day which was under the theme; Ensuring Responsible and Sustainable Mining Sector in Ghana, Our Shared Responsibility.

Professor Richard Amankwaah, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in his response to the advice given by Otumfuo said that, the management of the university is collaborating with the association to ensure sustainable mining activities in the country.


He said they are surely going to ensure the fight on the destruction of the water bodies will succeed to remove the chaffs from the system.


The national Vice President of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM), Mr Sampson Kofi Wiredu assured that, the association is poised to play central role to complement the efforts of the government to make the mining industry very acttractive.


He however revealed some of the challenges faced some of it'smembers which is disturbing them is how their members are being delayed in acquiring license for their activities. 


According to him, it was very worrying that the ministry in charge is not perturbed about the process which has been a challenge for many years now.


He however suggested that, the government get them involved as to how the process can be done very quickly to ease the pressure on it's members.

The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms.
