Ayensuano, Tension Mount at Mankrong Farmers Between Apedwahene as He is taking over Mankrong Lands and their Livelihood.

The chiefs, cocoalife farmers and people of Mankrong are lamenting as their lands are being taken over by Apedwahene.

Mankrong is a town in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region and the inhabitants are predominantly farmers.

According to the farmers, their ancestors live on the land and has been farming on this land for the past 150 years.

The current unfortunate happenings in our town has been that, Mankrong has been very peaceful until about two weeks ago, out of the blue moon, heavy duty machines moved into our town to start an excavation works on certain parcels of land in the town.

When we enquired from the well armed workers who we perceived were brought out by Okyehene Mponuahene to do the excavation works which we were not informed and to our uttermost surprise, the Apedwahene through Okyehene Mponuahene, has taken possession of the land.

We could have resisted with equal force of arms but we decided to use due process rather to take back our lands.

As we speak now five acres of cocoa farms, four acres of orange farms, six acres of agro forest, ten acres of oil palm plantation, two acres of plantain farms, five acres of maize farms, one acre of cocoyam farm, and some uncompleted buildings have been destroyed.

Where do the Apedwahene and Okyehene Mponuahene expect these people whose livelihoods have been destroyed to get their daily bread from? The farmers queried.

The farmers there are demanding the following:

1. That the Apedwahene and the Okyehene Mponuahene, with immediate effect, recall all their heavy duty machines from our land.

2. That the Apedwahene must pays for all properties destroyed by his illegal actions on our lands.

3. That the Apedwahene give an assurance to the chiefs and people of Mankrong that their lands, henceforth, will not be attacked in this capricious manner.

5. We will like to send a strong warning to the Apedwahene and the Okyehene Mponuahene that if we still see these earthmoving machines on our land after three days, counting from today, we will advice ourselves.

Former Assembly man for Mankrong Electral area who double as Cocoa life president at Mankrong Honourable. Francis Teinor speaking with our news reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, said the chiefs and people of Mankrong are peace loving people but are not cowards.

We are appealing to the president of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo to intervene and call Apedwahene and Mpunuahene to order else they will never be allowed to destroy our lands with their illegal activities. He said.

Mankrong Osiadeahene Tei Kiss3 also expressed his agitation to Alrich24newsgh.com reporter about the situation they are going through at Mankrong which authorities should come in else what will happen will not help.
