A teacher incharge of Presby School in Kade Municipality of the Eastern Region, Sir Robert, has expressed worry about the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy record in the Municipality.

Cases of teenage pregnancies have skyrocketed in the Tweapease within last year in the school form one alone were 10 students who got pregnant.

Sir Robert speaking with the media said communities like Abomoso, Sekubenase, Nkruakan, Bomso have recorded over 60% cases of teenage pregnancies which is affecting the girls future career.

The report has it that out of 60% of these teenage mothers their ages were between 13 and 14 years old without any measures to bring the number down whilst it is continuing to rise year after year, he said.

He added that, all the 60% teenage pregnancy recorded can be traced to be impregnated by galamseyers which the teacher described the situation as a worrisome, insisting that the future of many young girls are being destroyed.

He urged parents to see such situation as disturbing and must see it as criminal and to report the men behind the pregnancies to the Police for future actions.

He added that, the teachers together with the authorities have mount up strategies to curb down the situation by implementing bye-laws to prevent the men from impregnating the young girls.

Sir Robert called on stakeholders and other traditional authorities come on board to help in the fight against teenage pregnancy in the communities.

According to him, by-laws instituted must be implemented to ensure that men who impregnate teenage girls are made to face the law.

He finally charged the Municipal Assembly, to also have a key role to play and the Ministry of Education or GES together with the NCCE to come on board influence the young girls to avoid involving themselves with the galamseyers boys who can destroy their future.
