E-Lavy Will Be Passed in the Absence of Speaker of Parliament-Hon. Kwasi Amwyaw Kyeremeh Esq.

E-Lavy Will Be Passed In the Absence of Speaker of Parliament-Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw Kyeremeh Esq.

The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East Constituency in the Bono Region, Hon. Kwesi Ameyaw Kyeremeh (Esq) on Nimde3 95.1 fm has urged the people of Sunyani and across Ghana about the necessity for the introduction and implementation of the E-Levy which has been tabled in parliament for approval.

According to him, the recent happenings in parliament is not helping the government business, pointing at the growing discomfort on the deliberate travels of the speaker of parliament to Dubai anytime there is an expectation of discussion or a vote on critical national policy.

Hon. Ameyaw, was cleared on his position to the fact that it has become important to have the speaker in place whiles voting on important matters come up in parliament.

He explained that, "Parliament will vote on any matter when the speaker becomes absent, our total number 275 MPs will vote on any issues in parliament regardless of who amongst the MPs sit in for the speaker, more so, that particular MP is still an MP and will vote in that regard".

He said, our worries however is centered on how coincidental it has become on the timing of voting under our slim difference dispensation and the speake’s travels on health grounds regardless of important motion that needs to be approved such as e-lavy.

Hon. Ameyaw, concluded that if all efforts puts together to endorsed the e-lavy, a percentage of the revenue accrued from the e-levy. Eg. 30% of the revenue will go into roads, 50% into You-Start and 20% in other sectors, he said, we must ensure that it happens so we achieve the intended purpose of the Levy rather than the mere boycotting of the bill to be passed the e-levy.

The majority side has 138 memebers of Parliament and has the legitimacy to pass the e-levy by all means when the time is due.
